Controlling Stress as a Freelance Writer

Published by bothfeetin at 10:00 am under The Past Edit This

I wrote about balance yesterday, and today, I would like to touch on stress. I am prone to stress and anxiety. I am sure that many freelance writers are. I originally thought to write about “managing” your stress, but I would like to focus on controlling it rather than “reacting” and “managing” it.

  1.  Understand what is stressing you out. Write down all of your commitments, engagements, and everything you have going on with you. Make lists based on time (today, this week, this month) and evaluate each item.
  2. Widespread or specific? If you stressed with all of your assignments in general, find a way to make each task manageable. If it is a specific task, plan out how to tackle the project.
  3. Know what you need to. The less you know, the more you stress. The more you understand your projects, the better you accomplish them rather than letting them stress you out.
