Your perfect community
When it comes to writing community and finding other writers for support, some are for and some are against. I am of the persusasion that “it depends”. Rather than being happily ambiguous, I am going to shed a little light on my opinion of writing community.
* Every writer can do with a little support.Be it your mom or your writing group or anyone who will listen, you need some support, some praise, and some motivation as writer.
* There is no “one size fits all” for writing community and support.Not every venue is for every writer. What is important is to find out what works for you and make it a priority to nurture your need for community.
* Like anything else, you need goals and you need to schedule your time for support and community.I am a huge proponent for goals, planning, scheduling. You should be too!
- Decide what you want from writing support.
- Decide how you will contribute.
- Decide when you will seek/participate in this community.
- Decide what works for you.
So when and where do you find writing support and community?
I personally try to leave comments on all blogs that I read regularly. It feels great when people comment on mine, so I like to return the favor. Plus, even though the blog post itself is a form of dialog, I think a lot is said in between the lines of comments.
I don’t have a physical community of blogger, although I plan on organizing a Tweet-Up after the holidays. I’ve always been a work by day, creative by night type person, so my community tends to be all over the world.
@farandsavage,
Thanks for stopping by. I don’t have a physical community either. My community is mostly Twitter and those at WriYe.
Thanks again,
